Jean Binder, PhD

Jean is Head of Project Excellence and Governance at Philip Morris International and is the main point of contact and oversight for governance processes, best practices, and tools, providing end-to-end visibility on Life Sciences objectives, strategies, goals, and achievements. He holds a PhD in Global Project Management from Heriot-Watt University, U.K., and two Master's degrees in Project Management — one from George Washington University and the other from Ichec Brussels Management School.


Jean started his career in 1987 with a strong focus on team and project management, and gained decades of experience managing IS, IT and biological research programs, projects and teams. Jean joined PMI in 2018 as a Manager Program Management Office, specializing in biomedical systems research.


In addition to his vast working experience, Jean is also a lecturer on project management, presenting in global congresses and teaching at the University of Fribourg (iimt - Switzerland), University of Lausanne and at Norges Teknisk-Naturvitenskapelige Universitet (NTNU - Norway). Thus, Jean himself considers his biggest achievement to be supporting the career progression of the great professionals he has had the opportunity to work with.
